Obituary for Patricia "Pat" Cotie (Acheson)

Patricia "Pat" Cotie (Acheson)
COTIE, Patricia Joan (nee Acheson)
July 28, 1938 – May 5, 2018
Patricia passed away at Renfrew Victoria Hospital on Saturday, May 5, 2018 after a brief illness. Born in Ottawa, Ontario to William Alexander Acheson and Marjorie Doris Leach. Mother to Laura (Fred Lappan), Kari (Jim Gleadall), Boyne and Lorne. Sister to George, Gwyneth, Annabel (Geoff) Blandford and Helen Manion. Sister-in-law to Gloria (Bill) Acheson. Grandmother to Kyle Delarge, Tarah Lee and Tanner Cotie, Brandon and Chase Cotie. Patricia is predeceased by her parents, brother William and her sister Ethel Bevins. Patricia lived in Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley area most of her life. She was selfless when caring for her children and had a delightful sense of humour. Patricia counted among her many talents and experiences, the following: a good cook and baker, drove tractor, played piano, duck hunted, travelled to South Wales, employment with the RCMP and later, Supply & Services Canada of Ottawa. She was raised in Ottawa, lived in Montreal in 1959/60, in Renfrew, and of late, with caring people at the Country Haven nursing home in Beachburg. The family wishes to extend a very special thank-you to the caring nurses on the transfusions staff, Dr. Bruce Strader, Dr. Shanti Nemani, Dr. Amanda Low, the ER staff as well as to the many wonderful nurses on 2nd Floor at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital. At the risk of leaving someone out, our heartfelt thanks to Amy, Allison, Rachel, Ashley, Raven, Mary, Holly, Tricia, Natalie, Bethany, Linda, Valerie and Catherine for going the “extra mile”. Thanks also to Ann Marie and Ev. It is possible to live a dignified life while suffering with mental illness. At Patricia’s request cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10th, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the McPhail & Perkins Funeral Home, 85 Munroe Ave. E., Renfrew. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate, are asked to consider the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation.
